Purdue University: Day of Giving fundraiser
In the spring of 2022 I was contracted by SAGA Content to help them build out illustrated visuals and graphic design materials for their promotional campaign with Purdue University. Purdue’s Day of Giving Fundraiser that year succeeded in raising a whopping $68.2 million for Purdue, a new record for the institution.
Defining the style
At the beginning of the project I was given a brief, some photo references of significant buildings on Purdue’s campus, and an illustrated style reference. Using that material along with the guidelines, I started sketching the composition and defining what the client might want stylistically. To arrive at the image above required a lot of back and forth with SAGA content’s creative director, exploration via the sketched and digitally painted versions below, and finally the vectorized line art that the client loved. I used that line art in After Effects to build the animated “Thank You!” promo material Purdue used during its fundraising social media campaign.
